Pierbridge announced today that it has formally launched its ISO 27001 certification initiative, which is expected to be complete by second quarter 2017.

ISO 27001 is a specification for an information security management system (ISMS). An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that include all legal, physical, and technical controls involved in an organization's information risk management processes. According to its documentation, ISO 27001 was developed to provide a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and improving an information security management system.

"Pierbridge's Transtream carrier management software development is second to none in terms of preventing unauthorized access and security breaches," said Mark Newburn, Pierbridge's Chief Technology Officer (CTO). "We have always followed best practices in terms of secure product development methodologies. That is one of the reasons why our software has been selected by some of the largest software OEMs, financial service industries, and governmental agencies. ISO 27001 certification will provide more formal proof that we are abiding by strict information security standards."

"Pierbridge’s decision to become ISO 27001 certified not only proactively anticipates the demands of our customers," said Newburn, "but also demonstrates a commitment to providing secure carrier management solutions, whether implemented on-premise or in the Transtream Cloud."
